I am My Values

Inventory question from 2016 that remains extremely applicable today.

Q: What changes have I seen in my life that can be attributed to a power greater than addiction-mind restoring us to sanity?

A: The ability to use my values as my boundaries on a consistent basis, focusing my actions on maintaining loyalty with them, because I am my values.

When I began recovery, I never gave much time or attention to considering the relationship with my values, much less making the time to consciously and intentionally live them in a serious and determined way that at times required fortitude. This included the understanding and awareness that I'm responsible for choosing my values and following them, not others.
