Zazen is the practice of fostering a one-pointed, undivided, and stabilized presence and attention. It promotes alertness and readiness to be responsive to the present moment Reality, rather than reacting impulsively to mental projections of thought, akin to a dog barking at every sound it hears.
Instead of attempting to escape this reality by overthinking or succumbing to distractions that can numb us, we consciously and intentionally choose to engage with it in its totality.
Zazen! Zazen! Zazen! No dwelling on the past, no anxiously anticipating the future. Only existing as the Present, engaging as the eternal Now. Being physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually available to what's actually happening is an amazing gift that our culture often overlooks and rarely gives.
一We Are the Practice Itself
Calligraphy note: 座 (za) means "to sit" and 禅 (zen) unified completeness. Together, 座禅 (zazen) means sitting in unification or harmony as one's authentic presence.
