What happens to us when we try to control the uncontrollable? Suffering is usually the only thing on the menu of experience, at that point. That said, the practice is to respond rather than react out of anxiety, fear, worry, frustration, and panic.
How can we locate our responses? We could take a step back… Take our place on the seat of authenticity and integrity that is our Values… Slow the tempo of •BE•ing•ness without having to be a mess… Having conscious contact with our present moment experience, simultaneously touching into our center of gravity, in our soft belly… breathing low and slow... Adjusting attention from narrow band thinking to broadband intuitive presence that's zoomed out, holding with kindness the entire Buddhaverse within awareness.
The point isn't feeling "good," or "fixing" ourselves. We're not broken. The point could stabilizing attention in awareness, that gives us access to our Values, turning down the internal volume levels on thinking and feeling so tight, constricted, and dysregulated. In that Way, we could begin to notice a range of responses as opposed to reaction. We could be happier in our heart and head in that way.
一We Are the Practice Itself
