We Are Environment Itself

For your considerations... Sentient beings don't simply live within environments. We emerge and arise through them… respond to them… alter them… and become environments for one another.

Our body is an environment. Mind is an environment. Attention is an environment. Community is an environment. The Earth is the larger field within which all of these environments meet.

In this way, how do we engage them? Harmoniously… or disharmoniously?

"The powerful play goes on, and we will contribute a verse..., What will our verse be?" Interdependence is a 'Thing.'

Whether we're still or moving… speaking or silent… consuming or creating… we passively and actively participate in shaping life as environment. With great power comes great responsibility.

Environmentalism… being a part of instead of apart from… is the practice of conscious contact with the environments we inherit… embody… create… and transmit. It is accepting responsibility for whether these environments sustain suffering… or support liberation from suffering.

Ultimately, the quality of our attention becomes part of the environment that others encounter. We are never merely passing through the world… we are continually participating in the conditions of the world.
